Trip to Kamshet, Maharastra

The year was 2012, November we were planning to go for a Vacation and decided finally to visit Kamshet, Maharastra. It’s a perfect holiday destination for the people who are obsessed with luscious scenic beauty, lakes, hills and Paragliding.

Kamshet located at 2200 ft above the sea level and a perfect holiday destination to relax & rejuvenate. Kamshet is 118 kms away from Mumbai also to be precise 56kms from Pune and 11 kms from Lonavala. Kamshet Straddle the ancient trade route between the Konkan region and Pune. During the journey you can explore several Ancient Cave Temples and medieval fortresses.

Attractions:

Fascinating paraglide fanatics often gets attracted to the place for offering the World Class Paragliding facilities. It floats over the Pawna Lake and glides over beautiful countryside provides a lifetime experience. I’m not an enthusiast for flying hence I enjoyed watching the others though there were options we explored were Trek up to Tower Hill, Shelar and Kondeshwar Cliff. Bahiri Caves and Bhandar Dongar is also a must visit during the trip.

 

Places to Stay:

Kamshet has very limited option to stay except few home stay options. Tourists generally float from Lonavala and Khandala and visit here for adventure potencies.

Though we stayed near to Carla Caves the place is called ‘Heritage Villas’ (Contact: +9198334 78410) 11.8 km (5.09 mi), 19 minute approx by car to reach Kamshet via AH47. Nice and cozy place to stay neat and clean without any extravagant luxury.  Hospitality is great and would love to visit in future as well.

Best time to visit Kamshet is between October to April is breezy cold and soothing weather temperature generally lies between 12*c (Min) & 30*c (Max).

Kamshet is basically Ex-Mumbai, Ex-Pune Getaway but if you are a travel buff you can even plan your short trip to Kamshet by reaching in Pune/Mumbai by flight/train.

-          Kamshet is 112 km, 3 hr from Mumbai.

-          Kamshet is 50.3 km, 1.5 hr from Pune.

Place is most visited for its World Class Paragliding as I already mentioned though I liked it for Its amicable beauty and local Places will amaze you if you really want to make yourself secluded for sometime from city’s uproar and busy life.
