We (Me with my spouse) begin to this journey on 28/12/2013. Prior reservation to Rupashi Bangla Express from Santragachi station makes us bound to wake early, at 6:28AM we begun.

We reached to the Bishnupur station at 9:45 AM & we had reservation at 'Udayan Lodge' which is conveniently located 5 minutes from Ras Mancha. We completed exploring the Malla Raja's ancient mandirs & other Historical places by 3:00 PM.

This Bishnupur trip comprised of Historic memories, Excellent arts of Teracotta & also some exotic flavor of bengal.

In the morning we left the lodge & went to Mukutmanipur where the entire 2:30 hrs by road journey will be eye delighting treat to the nature. We covered 'Eco Park Chenchurya' at Taldanga. Which is basically a picnic spot & you can also enjoy boating there.

The entire journey will be an eye candy & also you will be able to enjoy Forest & Mountains enroute. Then followed by Panchmura we finally reached to Mukutmanipur. The moment we reached to Mukutmanipur you can see & feel the freshness of the nature. It's amazing. We checked in at Aparajita Hotel (9474185866/9547720323). There hospitality is really amendable.

Mukutmanipur and Jhilimili nearby are major tourist attractions. The second biggest earth dam of India is located in Mukutmanipur 55 km away from Bankura. Green forests surround the vast bluish tract of water, and the hillocks are picturesque. The place is very famous for its superb natural beauty. The undulating terrain along the southern edge of the Kangsabati water reservoir spreads as a three-dimensional necklace in green and terracotta. Approximately two kilometers from the lake is the Bangopalpur Reserve Forest, a home of many species of flora and fauna. Four kilometres from the dam is the ancient town of Ambikanagar, once an important place of pilgrimage for Jains.

Mukutmanipur, a quaint serene place, which is home to the world’s reportedly longest (10.8 km) man-made mud-banked fresh water barrage that canalises Kangshabati & Kumari rivers into the three drought affected districts of Bankura, Purulia & Midnapore for irrigation in the summer months.

We went to Jhilimili from Mukutmanipur which followed by Ranibandh on last & final day. Which was recently escaped from the Maoist attack & open to visit. It's totally hilly area & you can find so many tribal villages during the journey. During the journey you can see 3 view points to see the serenity of the Mountain covered nature. The watchtower at Jhilimili offers a commanding view of the surrounding area. It's really a quite place & if you want to escape yourself for a pleasant gateway this should be your destination.

Then we came back(By prior reservation) by Rupashi Bangla Express on the same day which you can conviniently get from Bishnupur Station at 5:28 PM (Boarding time) which comes to Howrah at around 10:00 PM.

Few things to mention:
We stayed at Bishnupur 'Udayan Lodge' their hospitality is not so good on an average it's not bad for staying, Clean.

*My rating for this lodge would be 4 out of 10.

*Best place for staying in Bishnupur is West Bengal Tourism Department Lodge. But it's really tough to get booking there.
At Mukutmanipur we stayed at 'Aparajita Lodge' which is really good. Strongly recommendable for staying. (8.5 out of 10)

Best place to buy Teracotta, Dokra work. At Mukutmanipur water dam market only. (Unique, Affordable & they also deliver to Kolkata by prior order). Mukutmanipur Teracotta Centre (9933100431)
Place to buy Bishnupuri Silk by best price & variety Kaniska (9434934188/9734291353)

*You can book the sarees by paying 10% & once you come back to kolkata within 2 month you can call them & ask for the delivery at your doorstep. They come to Kolkata to deliver your products.

Most Important thing to mention:

I would like to take two persons name without whom this trip was not possible.
Mr. Dilip Dutta (9434527699). I got his number from a write up in the internet & while I was not getting any booking I called him up to help. Being an unknown person he helped me, booked Udayan & Aparajita both for us. I transferred him the money by NEFT from my A/C. He is truly helpful & always eager to help.
Mithu (9732109466). From entering to Bishnupur till we came back to the station for catching train for Kolkata this is the person who was with us. He knows every road & really an efficient driver to trust. He always fond of taking to the right place by right route & his never angry mode will always made us pleased for him.

In short Bishnupur & Mukutmanipur trip is really a good weekend escapade & you should spend more time for Mukutmanipur & Jhilimili rather than Bishnupur. If you want to be less worried about your trip & want to make it happen in a smooth way you can get in touch with Dilip Dutta or Mithu who will take all the pain & make your journey a smoother ride without any worry.
